Vijay Deo Jha RANCHI Wednesday, July 23, 2008
UPA proving its majority in the House during the confidence motion the number game has finally concluded with BJP smelling a rat and the Congress being overwhelmed with victory. However, reactions are sharp as far as the NDA is concerned while the leaders of UPA faction did not hide their mood of jubilation in Jharkhand. While terming it a great fraud with democracy leader of the Opposition Arjun Munda blasted, "It is a death of democracy! The way the Congress engineered split in various parties to cobble a majority in the House is a grim reminder of the fact that this Government can do all to please Uncle Sam."Finding no reason to be hopeless for the party Munda said the UPA would have a tough task ahead to explain the people on nuclear deal. State BJP president Pashupati Nath Singh said the money and corporate lords defeated democracy. Indicating to the flocks of political absentees on the floor of the House, he said the nation watched how the UPA invested crores of rupees to oblige the lesser political mortals to switch over their alliance. Joining chord with Munda and Singh, State BJP spokesperson Biranchi Narayan said the Congress again repeated the history when it induced JMM and others with money during the regime of Narsimha Rao Government. Taking a dig at JMM MPs, he said the same unethical JMM took side of the Congress for petty gain. The State Congress that heaved a sight of relief sees it a vindication of the stand of the party on N-deal. State Congress president Pradeep Balmucchu, who expressed his happiness over the victory of the UPA on the floor of the House, said the country would proceed to the path of development. "We have showed the nation that we are ready to face the challenge ahead. Those who are alleging the role of money and political deceit are just making an alibi", he said. Reacting over it State Congress spokesperson Alok kumar Dubey, blamed the Opposition parties for misguiding the people. Now it is time for BJP leaders to undergo another Chintan Sivir to assess itself. The UPA Government is conscious of the safe interest of the nation and there was no need to be panic. Dubey, who was in New Delhi to attend the workshop on N- issue, organized by the Congress, added the party was ready to have a threadbare discussion on this issue that was pooh-poohed by the Opposition. JVM chief Babulal Marandi, said the majority that the UPA claimed on the floor of the House was 'unreal' and 'synthetic'. He insisted that the UPA Government had still no mandate to go ahead with this deal.
