'I am not a runner for CM post': Yaswant Sinha
Vijay Deo Jha Ranchi Monday, July 28, 2008
BJP national vice-president Yashwant Sinha, who was in Ranchi in connection to a party programme, has made his stand clear on the probability of his being the next Chief Minister of Jharkhand, if the party comes to power in the State.
With this Sinha tried to put a lid over the media guessing over his wish to be the Chief Minister of Jharkhand, an issue that raked up after his statement on the eve of the by-election of Simaria.
In the statement that said: The State needed a non-tribal Chief Minister. If the statement of Sinha in this regard is seen carefully it appears that he was ready to accept Arjun Munda as the Chief Minister if the party high command wish to project him. Sinha explained the reason the party having not projected anybody as would be Chief Ministers while in other States the party pre-decided the name of its Chief Minister.
"These things are done in special cases, in case of Jharkhand it would be decided during the election. Yet if you want to know then I am not the contender for that", he added.Talking about the nuclear deal, he accused Left parties for deliberately committing two historical mistakes- one not accepting the proposal of the BJP to table a resolution in Parliament on the nuclear deal and forming special committee to discuss this.
To allow the UPA to negotiate with International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) was other mistake of the Left, Sinha counted. Sinha squarely blamed the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for betraying the faith of the common mass and tarnishing his own carefully cultivated image as an honest and learned Prime Minister. He is party to this fraud against the nation and democracy.
On the suspension of Lok Sabha Speaker, Somnath Chatterjee and his role during the confidence motion Sinha said the former failed to perform his task properly. The 14th Lok Sabha would be remembered not only for the death of democracy but also for the fact that even Speaker was not under the control of his party.
Terming it disgraceful the way party MPs switched their loyalty during the voting Sinha revealed that the UPA was ready to foray some 50 NDA MPs. It misused the intelligence services to tap those MPs who were at odd with the party or whose constituencies could be changed after delimitation.
He demanded a fair inquiry. However Singh denied the media report that the NDA was mulling over mass resignation to exert pressure on the UPA. While echoing the similar sentiments and vehemence close to party line on the two major terror attack just with in a week of the confidence motion has rocked the nation Sinha directly blamed the PM for turning India a soft state with soft target.
