JMM to support Mukherjee and Ansari

JMM chief Shibu Soren announced to support UPA candidate Pranab Mukherjee for the presidential election after a meeting of party legislative body meeting on Sunday. The JMM also announced to support UPA candidate and vice president of India Md. Hamid Ansari for the post of Vice President.

Addressing media Soren termed Mukherjee as the person who is best fitted for the job. “He is a seasoned politician who commands respects across political parties. Country wants him as next President…we too,” Soren said. Soren added further that his party will support Ansari for the post of Vice President.

AJSU Party is yet to make announcement. “We will make announcement very soon within a day. The core committee of the party will take the decision,” Sudesh Mahto who is AJSU Party chief and Deputy Chief Minister in the Arjun Munda led government said. But party sources confided that the party is likely to support Mukherjee. “AJSU Party is almost decided about its choice about presidential candidate. We will discuss about vice president election also,’ a top AJSU Party leader said.

NDA supported candidate PA Sangma tried his best to seek support of the JM and the AJSU Party on the tribal line saying he expects support from Jharkhand which is a tribal state. But that emotional appeal hardly moved the JMM and the AJSU. JMM is quite loath to give any indication being pro-NDA nevertheless, the party is enjoying power along with the BJP in Jharkhand.
