Trying to put the political odds in order, JMM chief Shibu Soren drove to Congress MLAs who are learnt not be happy with the support extended to Soren by the Central high command of the party.
On Tuesday, Soren made a sudden visit to State Congress president Pradip Balmuchchu's residence where the party MLAs were holding a meeting. At a time when the Congress MLAs do not hide their resentment against the decision of the party by not attending any programmes of the UPA, including at the Governor House and the UPA meet in the State capital, Soren and top UPA leaders, including Subodhkant Sahay, are trying to persuade nine MLAs of the party.
The sources said the Congress MLAs have demanded from Soren to implement and monitor the Common Minimum Programme which they alleged were not followed during the Koda Government. They also demanded the constitution of the Steering Committee and its regular meeting.
The party which in past criticised the Koda Government for its failure on the central sponsored programme like NREGA wanted the proper monitoring of such programmes. While talking to the stand of the party, party spokesperson Alok Dubey said that the party extended the support provided the development of the State were taken care of.
The Congress which looks worried in view of the Lok Sabha elections in the State does want the State Government to take a ride of the development. The meeting was attended by the party MLAs - Balmucchu, Niel Tirkey, Manoj Yadav, Thomas Hansda, Sukhdeo Bhagat, Israel Ansari besides party MPs includes Sahay and Furkan Ansari.
